In his first concert appearance since winning the coveted American Pianists Awards this summer, pianist Kenny Broberg will be celebrated by Kansas City audiences in a performance with the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra in Helzberg Hall. Already a favorite in Kansas City, Kenny is one of the most decorated pianists of his generation having previously won the bronze medal in the International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019 and the silver medal in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2017. A student of Cliburn gold medalist Stanislav Ioudenitch at Park University’s International Center for Music, this is your chance to experience Kenny’s artistry before he heads off for an international career this fall. See and hear him in KC first and see what critics are calling “a superb artist with an extraordinary concentration … and ravishing tone.”
The concert will include solo piano works on the first half featuring the fiery Dante Sonata by Liszt. The Kansas City Chamber Orchestra will open the second half and then join Mr. Broberg for the gorgeous Piano Concerto No. 1 in E flat by Chopin.

Biography
About Kenny Broberg:
American pianist Kenny Broberg continues to build a reputation as “one of the most intelligent and intense artists on the concert stage today” (Theater Jones) with fresh interpretations complemented by a natural, honest stage presence. The Minneapolis native first came to international attention when he captured the silver medal at the 2017 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition with performances marked by “an imaginative shaping of themes, revelation of inner voices, and an unfailing sense of momentum” (Texas Classical Review). He followed this with a bronze medal win at the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Competition. In 2021, he was named the winner of the American Pianists Association Award and received the Christel DeHaan Classical Fellowship in June. He currently resides in Kansas City, Missouri, where he continues to be mentored by 2001 Cliburn Gold Medalist Stanislav Ioudenitch at the International Center for Music at Park University.

The Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, now in its 34nd season, is the region’s only professional resident chamber orchestra. Founded by music director and conductor Bruce Sorrell, the orchestra features talented professional musicians who live and work in the metropolitan area including members of the Kansas City Symphony, music faculty from the University of Kansas and the Conservatory at University of Missouri – Kansas City, and freelance professionals. The orchestra is best known for performances of Baroque and Classical repertoire as well as a wide variety of contemporary music written for chamber orchestra.
