Our season finale will feature the father-daughter duo, Stanislav Ioudenitch, piano, and Maria Ioudenitch, violin. Witness their exceptional musical chemistry as they present an all-French program. Maria has earned top honors at the Ysaÿe, Tibor Varga, and Joseph Joachim International Competitions, along with receiving special recognitions like the Joachim’s Chamber Music Award and a prestigious recording deal with Warner Classics. Experience this unique family affair in concert!

Maria Ioudenitch

Born in Russia, violinist Maria Ioudenitch immigrated with her musical family to the U.S. at the age of two and grew up in Kansas City. In 2021,  she received first prizes in the Ysaÿe International Music Competition, the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition and the Joseph Joachim International Competition. She also received numerous special prizes at these competitions, including Joachim’s Chamber Music Award, the prize for Best Interpretation of the Commissioned Work, the Henle Urtext Prize, and a recording deal with Warner Classics.

Recognized for her innovative programmes, her first album on Warner – Songbird with pianist Kenny Broberg, released on 24 March 2023 – spans from Franz Schubert, Fanny Mendelssohn and Clara Schumann to Nikolai Medtner, Richard Strauss and Nadia Boulanger. In upcoming concerts, she performs the Tchaikovsky, Glazunov and Barber concertos as well as Haydn’s G-Major and Mozart’s D-Major concertos, while this season’s recital programmes include works by George Gershwin, William Grant Still, Dolores White and Fazil Say, alongside standard violin repertoire.

In the recent months, Maria Ioudenitch has made her debuts with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (at Berlin’s Philharmonie), MDR-Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, Düsseldorfer Symphoniker and Münchner Symphoniker and returned to her home-town Kansas City Symphony. Other recent engagements have taken her to the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover, Lithuania Chamber Orchestra and Utah Symphony, while her growing list of conductors includes names like Andrey Boreyko, Alpesh Chauhan, Kevin John Edusei, Stanislav Kochanovsky, Andrew Manze, Ruth Reinhardt and Hugh Wolff. She is also an active chamber musician and has taken part in multiple chamber music tours with Ravinia Steans Music Institute and Marlboro Music Festival. An upcoming Marlboro tour will take place in November 2023.

Maria began playing violin with Gregory Sandomirsky at the age of three and continued her studies with Ben Sayevich at the International Center for Music in Kansas City and Pamela Frank and Shmuel Ashkenasi at the Curtis Institute of Music, where she completed her bachelor’s degree. She fulfilled both her master’s degree and Artist Diploma at the New England Conservatory, where she studied with Miriam Fried.

In the past year, Maria has been mentored by Sonia Simmenauer as part of Simmenauer’s new initiative, zukunfts.music. Maria is currently in the Professional Studies programme at the Kronberg Academy, working with Christian Tetzlaff.

Stanislav Ioudenitch

Pianist Stanislav Ioudenitch is widely regarded for his strong individuality and musical conviction. His artistry won him the Gold Medal at the 11th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, where he also took home the Steven De Groote Memorial Award for Best Performance of Chamber Music.

Born in 1971 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Ioudenitch has netted prizes at the Busoni, Kapell, Maria Callas, New Orleans competitions, among others. A former student of Dmitri Bashkirov, he also studied with Leon Fleisher, Murray Perahia, Karl Ulrich Schnabel, William Grant Naboré and Rosalyn Tureck at the International Piano Foundation in Como, Italy (the current International Piano Academy Lake Como). He subsequently became the youngest teacher ever invited to give master classes at the Academy.

Ioudenitch has collaborated with James Conlon, James DePreist, Günther Herbig, Asher Fisch, Stefan Sanderling, Michael Stern, Carl St. Clair and Justus Franz, with such orchestras as the Munich Philhamonic, the National Symphony in Washington, D.C., the Rochester Philharmonic, the Honolulu Symphony and the National Philharmonic of Russia. He has also performed with the Takács, Prazák, Borromeo and Accorda quartets and is a founding member of the Park Piano Trio.

He has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Kennedy Center, the Gasteig in Munich, the Conservatorio Verdi in Milan, the International Performing Arts Center in Moscow, Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, Bass Hall in Fort Worth, Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory, Orange County Performing Arts Center in California and the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado.

Ioudenitch’s recordings include Stanislav Ioudenitch, Gold Medalist, 11th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition for Harmonia Mundi and Trois Mouvements de Petrouchka produced by Thomas Frost. He also appeared in Playing on the Edge, Peter Rosen’s Peabody Award-winning documentary for PBS about 2001 Van Cliburn competition and in the PBS Concerto series. In addition to Lake Como, he has led master classes at the Cliburn-TCU Piano Institute in Fort Worth, Stanford University, Cornell University, the National University in Seoul and Miami’s International Institute for Young Musicians.

Recently his passion to teach has found expression in the forming of the International Center for Music and the Youth Conservatory of Music at Park University near Kansas City, where he is Artistic Director and Associate Professor of Music and Piano.

Ioudenitch was educated at the Uspensky School of Music in Tashkent, the Tashkent State Conservatory “M. Ashrafi” (the current Uzkek State Conservatory), the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia in Madrid, the International Piano Foundation in Como, the Cleveland Institute of Music and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He lives in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife, pianist Tatiana Ioudenitch and their daughter, Maria.
