“ONLY IN YPO” CONCERT GIVES MEMBERS THE TASTE OF LOCAL PIANIST SAID TO BE “MASTER OF ALL HE SURVEYS!”
Concert pianist, Behzod Abduraimov, wowed YPO Kansas City in a private concert at Crown Center on Wednesday, May 11th. A student of Park University’s International Center for Music founder and artistic director, Stanislav Ioudenitch (Gold Medalist of the Eleventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2001), Behzod came to Kansas City from Tashkent Uzbekistan to study in the Center’s unique environment. Since then, he won the London International Piano Competition at age 19, and has gone to set the international classical music scene aflame, performing with the world’s most acclaimed orchestras and selling out the Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall with performances described by critics and writers alike:
“With prodigious technique and rhapsodic flair, Mr. Abduraimov dispatched the work’s challenges, including burst upon burst of arm-blurring octaves, with eerie command.”
– The New York Times
He possesses a spectacular technique, but more impressive than that is his musicality. The powerful finale, tackled with virtuosity to spare, was electrifying […] the audience rose with a roar.”
– Cincinnati Business Courier
