Park ICM Pianist, Simon Karakulidi, began his studies with Stanislav Ioudenitch at Park University in 2016. Originally from Novorossiysk, Russia, Simon has been building his prize winnings at a myriad of International piano competitions, most recently winning the Gold Medal at the Wideman in Shreveport.
The Nena Wideman Piano Competition, which began in 1950, has been held annually the first weekend of December, at Centenary College-Hurley School of Music in Louisiana. Outstanding pianists from major music schools throughout the world have been attracted to the Competition. With the gold medal, Simon won the William Peyton Shehee and Virginia Kilpatrick Shehee cash prize award of $5,000; a website design, as well as orchestral engagements with the Shreveport Symphony and other orchestras throughout the United States.
Park International Center for Music is pleased to be presenting Simon in concert, March 6th, 7:30 p.m., at the Graham Tyler Memorial Chapel in Parkville, Missouri. The concert is free and open to the public, underwritten entirely by Park University. Parking is also available at no charge.

Biography
Born in 1997 in Novorossiysk, Russia, Simon Karakulidi began his studies with Prof. Mira Marchenko at Central Musical School in Moscow in 2013. Karakulidi is a prize-winner of the First Vladimir Krainev Piano Competition in Moscow (2nd prize and two special awards), and “Astana Piano Passion” piano competition (1st prize). He has participated in master-classes with world-acclaimed musicians such as Leon Fleisher, Arie Vardi, William Grant Nabore and Pavel Nercessian. In June 2018 Karakulidi was awarded Enlight Prize at the Art of Piano Festival in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2019 Karakulidi was awarded the 1st Prize from Ann & Charles Eisemann International Young Artists Competition, the Grand Prize of the Naftzger Competition and was a finalist at IKIF in NYC. Last November Karakulidi was awarded the 3rd prize at Olga Kern International Piano Competition and later became a gold medalist at Wideman Piano Concerto Competition. Since August 2016 Simon is studying with Stanislav Ioudenitch at Park University.
