Stanislav and Friends is one of the best concert bargains of the year. Stanislav Ioudenitch himself is a concert hall headliner, and then you get his friends, who are also award-winning, towering talent.” – Patrick Neas, Special to the Star

For nearly two decades, under the leadership of 2001 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Gold Medal Winner Stanislav Ioudenitch, Park University’s International Center for Music (ICM) has molded already accomplished musicians into national and international phenoms. Ioudenitch is widely admired and celebrated around the globe and on March 8, 2024, ICM will once again convene Stanislav’s friends, family, ICM alumni, and current faculty and students in this annual concert that writer Paul Pattison called, “. . . completely alluring. Bravo to all.”

Program

Get ready for a mesmerizing and extraordinary musical experience at Stanislav & Friends 2024, as two virtuosos, Stanislav Ioudenitch and Behzod Abduraimov, come together to perform Francis Poulenc’s captivating “Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra.” Poulenc’s Concerto is a remarkable work characterized by its harmonically rich and colorful melodies, infused with wit, charm, and lyricism. It remains one of his most celebrated pieces and will be a captivating end to this fifth annual celebration.

Francis Poulenc, a prominent figure in 20th-century French music, composed his “Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra” in 1932. This delightful concerto is a testament to Poulenc’s unique style, characterized by its harmonically rich and colorful melodies, infused with wit, charm, and lyricism.

The concerto features an enchanting interplay between the two pianos, engaging in a lively and expressive musical dialogue throughout the piece. Poulenc’s inventive use of both pianos offers a delightful sense of camaraderie and playfulness, providing an engaging and enjoyable listening experience.

Stanislav Ioudenitch, the esteemed Artistic Director of the International Center for Music, and Behzod Abduraimov, the renowned Artist in Residence, are both celebrated pianists in their own right. Their remarkable talents and deep understanding of the music promise to bring out the very essence of Poulenc’s concerto. The duo’s synergy and technical prowess, combined with the accompaniment of a full orchestra under the skillful direction of a talented conductor, will create an electrifying atmosphere, captivating the audience from start to finish.

The Stanislav & Friends event is already a prestigious occasion, known for bringing together world-class musicians to celebrate the power of music and its ability to unite people from all walks of life.
