Russian Winter Traditions With Park ICM

Right after welcoming the New Year, celebrating the Orthodox Christmas (January 7) and the Old Russian New Year (January 14), the Russian House of Kansas City celebrated these Russian winter traditions and introduced them to the Kansas City community at Schmitt Music in Overland Park. All featured in the photo, Irina Kobzeva-Pavlovich shared stories about secular holidays and Father Zachary with Sts. Peter and Fevronia Orthodox church described the Orthodox religious traditions. Guests of the event met the Russian Father Frost and Snegurochka (Snow Maiden). Photographer Timothy Wetmore presented his work which included images of Moscow. The highlight of the event was a performance by the talented Russian-speaking musicians, students of Park International Center for Music, Evangeliyya Deligonas-Khukhua, piano, Igor Khukhua, violin, and Dilshod Narzillaev, cello.
